Liberty (male) and Florida (female) were two young dolphins that were rescued from a roadside dolphin attraction in the Florida Keys, in the United States. We brought them to our sanctuary on Mashta Island, Key Biscayne, Florida for rehabilitation in 1972.
Both responded to the rehabilitation process and within a short period of time, were catching fish in the lagoon. When they were ready, we chartered a commercial seaplane and flew to Eleuthera, Bahamas Islands. We spotted a large pod of dolphins from the air and landed the seaplane at exactly 2505 North and 7640 South. We anchored the seaplane and gently slid Liberty and Florida into the pristine waters. For several years after, they we seen in the company of the local dolphins.
