Travel Agencies Urged to Stop Supporting Dolphin Shows

New video sends plea to the world’s travel agencies
Dolphin Project is working with the acclaimed Danish animal welfare organization, Anima, to put pressure on travel agencies around the world to stop sending tourists to dolphinariums.
Travel agencies and tour operators that advertise and sell tickets to dolphin shows allow the business of exploiting captive dolphins for profit to flourish. This includes the cruise ship industry, where the popularity of swim-with-dolphins programs has increased significantly in the Caribbean and Mexico, as a result of aggressive cross-promotion between the two industries.
An example of this is Loro Parque in Tenerife, Spain. Here, orcas and bottlenose dolphins are locked up in small concrete tanks and made to perform circus tricks to amuse crowds of tourists, many of whom purchase their tickets through travel agencies. Oblivious to the suffering that captive dolphins endure, tourists laugh and applaud as the dolphins are given orders to jump through hoops and dance to loud pop music.
This animal cruelty has to end. We are urging travel agencies to stop promoting animal suffering in the name of entertainment.
The video below sends a clear message to the world’s travel agencies: Put compassion and social responsibility over profit to stop dolphinariums.
