8 AM, Sept. 1st in Taiji.
Whoa! Looks like we will have more problems from storm than storm troopers! Although the storm showed up before the storm troopers, so we are not out of the woods yet!
Typhoon Talas is getting stronger, now bearing down on Japan as a borderline Category 2/3 storm – a major hurricane. And unfortunately Taiji is right in line for a major hit.
But we are going through with our Peaceful Prayer Ceremony despite the weather. We dd not come all this way to back down.
We are particularly concerned about the sea pens that have the captive dolphins. When the small tsunami hit Taiji last March, one sea pen was dragged out to the middle of the bay, and a number of the dolphins drowned. What the dolphin killers should do is let those dolphins go. Otherwise, the dolphins will be beaten up and likely killed by the waves and wind.
