Oh Yes, Canada!

I’ve long been of the opinion that these incredible creatures belong in the wild.” ~ Senate Liberal Wilfred Moore*
Yesterday, Nova Scotia Senator Wilfred Moore introduced a bill into the Canadian Senate to ban the acquisition, breeding or live capture of marine mammals in Canada. Ahead of the country’s federal election, the act, titled, “Ending the Captivity of Whales and Dolphins” would expand on the Province of Ontario’s Bill 80, passed in the province last month.
Bill 80 prohibits the breeding and acquisition of orcas in the province, and amends the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, adding other protections for captive marine mammals.
People all over the world are concerned about these animals and many jurisdictions have already banned them.” ~ Ric O’Barry
In addition to O’Barry, supporters of the senate bill include the Jane Goodall Institute, Zoocheck Canada, the Canadian Federation of Humane Societies and the director of “Blackfish,” Gabriela Cowperthwaite.
For well over two decades, Ric O’Barry has vigorously supported local efforts in Ontario to bring awareness to the plight of captive marine mammals. The time is NOW for the rest of Canada to say NO to the dolphin and whale show!
